Our consulting services typically fall within three offerings: 1. Plans purchasedThe first service focuses on residential clients who have purchased a set of mail order drawings. At times, a prospective client approaches us with a desire to make minor or major changes to their mail order drawings. Often when clients cannot find exactly what they want, they purchase drawings that are close to what they are looking for. We take the client's ideas and existing set of drawings and create a series of sketches or drawings to give to their contractor. The contractor is then be able to produce what the client wanted. This process illuminates all the confusion and misunderstandings between the owner and the contractor. Our clients have realized that this method always produces less questions and problems in the field. It also gives the client a little personal touch to the newly constructed home without the cost of a totally custom designed set of residential drawings. This service is typically provided for a flat fee, which starts at $500.00. 2. Assistance on started projectThe second type of consultation service is when a residential project has already been started and the contractor or owner needs some assistance. Mail order drawings or drawings that were produced by someone other than an architect often have some problems or not enough detail to clearly show all the conditions. This typically causes some problems in the field, which need to be addressed. We are called in to correct or clarify whatever the problem might be. This service is typically invoiced by an hourly rate. 3. Support to larger firmsThe last form of consultation service is directed to the larger architectural firms in our area. When local firms are rewarded a large project, or they may just have an overwhelming amount of work, they call on our firm to help them out as an architectural consultant. Sometimes out-of-area architectural firms call on us to be a consultant, so that they will have someone in the vicinity of the project. This makes it possible for us to work on large projects that we would probably not be able to receive on our own, while allowing us to achieve more experience in many more fields of architecture. Typically, this makes a winning situation for both the other firm and us. It allows them to keep their schedule on the specific project, at the same time creating a close relationship between them and us. |
