POMA BUILDING

This facility is located in Youngstown, Ohio. The scope of work on this project consisted of the following: to design a new office addition to the building, to renovate the existing warehouse space into a division of three separate areas, and to design restroom and locker room facilities for all of the above warehouse areas. The total square footage of the project was 176,000-sq. ft., which is composed of 161,500-sq. ft. of warehouse and 14,500-sq. ft. of office space.

The challenges of the project were to achieve proper exiting and dock servicing for all three-warehouse spaces, in addition to the location of the offices for proper circulation. The main user of the building is Poma Glass, which constructs custom shaped windows.

The exterior of the office addition incorporated a standard Poma Glass window, which reduced the cost of the office addition window package, because of the relationship between tenant and landlord. The front sloped roof areas of the office addition were not only for aesthetics, but also for the purposes of hiding the roof top mechanical units, since the ground around the building was much higher in elevation. This office addition was also not to have any level change from the warehouse floor to the office finish floor. This is the reason why we had to excavate and reshape the earth around this addition.
