RESIDENCE B The 4,200 square foot residence is located in a very nice neighborhood of Girard, Ohio. The home is placed on two parcels because of its long length being a multi-level ranch design.

The clients had asked us to design a single level contemporary residence that fit within its environment. We decided that we had to produce a two-story appearance since the neighboring homes were multi-story. This is the reason for the steep sloped roofs. The residence also features 132 window openings for it's distinctive appearance.

The most exciting design element to the exterior was the play of shade and shadow using an open trellis around the perimeter. This also allowed us to conceal the gutters and downspouts, which added to the simplistic and geometric appearance of the house.

The residence main focal area is the two story great room which is centralized in the overall design. The great room also has a piano shaped loft accessible by a spiral staircase. The loft shape was derived through Archi-Tekton's architectural expression for our client's love for music and art.
